The video game series comes to life this October on both the big and small screen
This October, Blumhouse is taking all of us down to Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza just in time for Halloween. That’s right, the production company made famous by their horror flicks is finally unleashing a movie adaptation of the popular video game franchise – and the very first trailer just dropped online.
Josh Hutcherson stars in the movie as Mike Schmidt, the unlucky security guard who works at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. The cast also includes horror favorite Matthew Lillard as well as Mary Stuart Masterson, Piper Rubio, Kat Connor Sterling and Elizabeth Lail. The legendary Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is behind designs and creation of the killer animatronics, so fans can be rest assured that their favorite creepy characters are being brought to life in the right way.
Directed by Emma Tammi (who first appeared on the horror scene with 2018’s The Wind) and written by original franchise creator Scott Cawthon, Five Nights at Freddy’s is set to release on October 27th of this year. It will also begin streaming on Peacock the same day, so you get to choose whether you want your scares on the big screen or in the comfort of your own home where you can hide under a blanket or two.
The official synopsis reads: “The terrifying horror game phenomenon becomes a blood-chilling cinematic event, as Blumhouse— the producer of M3GAN, The Black Phone and The Invisible Man— brings Five Nights at Freddy’s to the big screen. The film follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through.” Check out the trailer below.
‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ is released in theaters and will be streaming exclusively on Peacock October 27th.
